Back in 2015, Hitchin Scouts put on a day of adventure in the middle of Hitchin for all to enjoy called #SCOUTitOUT. We had a climbing wall, milkshake bike, sumo suits and even a campfire in the afternoon...
On Saturday 1st July 2017 from 10am to 4pm, Hitchin Scouts are back taking over the town and we're going bigger than ever before!
Join us in the centre of Hitchin for another day of FREE Scouting activities to help us celebrate the amazing youth in our town (whether they're a Scout or not). Also please come along to help us celebrate that we now have over 1000 members in Hitchin Scouting - up 60% in the last 10 years!
All activities are subject to weather and logistical arrangements. There could be a change at any time to the advertised activities.
Height, weight and age restrictions may apply to certain activities.
Do you dare to take a zip down the 60m mobile zip wire? Riders are fitted with a harness and helmet launching from 8m off the ground.
Ever fancied rolling around in a giant inflatable ball? You use your body to make the ball roll in your chosen direction. It’s not as easy as it sounds!
Have you ever been caving in the middle of Hitchin? Well this will be your chance to say you did! Experience a pot holing activity in a purpose made caving bus!
Scale to the top of our 8m high climbing wall and experience a different view of the town!
Fancy yourself as the next Robin Hood? Take part in our real archery to put your skills to the test.
You've seen the normal Sumos but have you seen our Sumo Scouts? We have two sizes - one for young people and one for adults!
We've booked the sunny weather so come along and play some lawn games with the family on the grass on the bank of the River Hiz.
6th Hitchin Cubs & Scouts are coming along to do some musical performances and magic tricks to finish off some badges. Come and be entertained!
7th Hitchin Scouts will be building a homemade zip line just for teddies! Bring your teddy along so it can have a go!
A fun, easy to learn, cut down version of traditional chess, run by 17th Hitchin Scouts.
Come down to the town and choose which activity you'd like to have a go on.
The activities are aimed at young people (both in Scouting and not in Scouting) but adults are welcome to have a go too! Most of the activities are free so there might be a bit of a queue. Please be patient and wait your turn - or maybe come back later if it's busy...
We always take safety seriously. All adventurous activities will have a qualified instructor or volunteer running them. Please listen to their instructions.
Join us for a traditional Scout campfire in the middle of the town. Just like in 2015 we'll be setting up a real fire and then we'll be singing some great Scouting songs!
Bring along your family and friends, and let's make some noise so we can be heard all the way back to Wilkos!
And don't worry we'll help you with the words if you don't know them.
The majority of the activities will be happening in the Market Place in Hitchin.
There will also be some on the grass outside the front of St Mary's Church next to the River Hiz.
From Saturday 24th June dotted around Hitchin in various shop windows will be 20 Scout badges.
Can you find them? Some of the shops are not as obvious as you might expect!

This #SCOUTitOUT event would not be possible without some help from some friends...
Thank you to the National Lottery for providing a grant to run the event, allowing us to keep the activities free for all young people.
For allowing us to use part of their grounds for some of the #SCOUTitOUT activities. You can find their website and social media links below.
